Nature Guardians (Dartmouth)
Nature Guardians
We piloted a YNC chapter just for our “tween” nature lovers back in 2015 and have been running monthly meet-ups every year since! Nature Guardians is a program just for 10-14 year olds, where no parent or guardian supervision is required on our once-a-month field trip. The Nature Guardians take the YNC Chapter model one step further by not only exploring a new natural space each month but also stewarding our local “naturehood” by working on conservation action projects together.
This program takes an open, group-oriented approach where our youth participants both plan and execute the projects we do each month. Recently, the Nature Guardians planned and implemented a number of stewardship projects at Shubie Park in Dartmouth, including native species plantings, on-going water quality monitoring, and nest box installations.
Are your nature nuts interested in real conservation action? New participants are always welcome!
Because parent/guardian supervision is not required, all Nature Guardian trips and events require an RSVP so that we can plan for managing group size safely. Thanks for your planning and understanding! Check out our events list below for upcoming Nature Guardian sessions or sign up for our Listserv to get the seasonal schedule sent to your email.
