South Shore Chapter

South Shore Chapter Leaders – Heather Haughn and Tyrel Stevens

Heather was born and raised in Lunenburg, and after high school moved away to study a BA in Psychology, and then both a BSW and MSW in Social Work. She has always found that being in nature is a great way to become grounded and offers many opportunities to practice mindfulness. Heather is an amateur birder and is often found hiding amongst the trees and bushes with her camera. Her love of nature is shared with her husband, Tyrel, and young children who are always eager to explore the outdoors. A lover of all things outdoors, Tyrel grew up hunting, fishing, foraging etc. in Northern Newfoundland where he was born. Once out of high school, he moved around the country a bit but eventually went back to Newfoundland to study to become a Fish and Wildlife technician and a couple years later a Forestry technician. He is now living on the South Shore and working as Forest Technician, while spending his free time exploring the outdoors with his family.

The South Shore Chapter is a family chapter, open to families with children of any age who are eager to learn and explore the beautiful natural world around us (*parental supervision is required for our events).

Member families meet monthly at awesome parks, trails, and other natural spaces around the South Shore to explore and learn together.

You can join at anytime throughout the year by registering online. The South Shore chapter also has a Facebook group, check them out!
